Uruguay: spanish Gamesa build wind farm.

Spain’s Gamesa, a manufacturer of wind turbines, said on Thursday that it planned to build a wind farm in Uruguay with 70 MW of installed capacity and would be responsible for maintaining the facility for 15 years.

Gamesa signed the contract with Rafisa, the trustee for the Financiero Arias trust fund, which acted on behalf of Uruguayan state-owned electric utility UTE.

Under the terms of the agreement, Gamesa will provide equipment, install and bring online 35 G114-2.0 MW wind turbines at the Colonia de Arias wind farm in Flores province.

The Spanish company will also construct the infrastructure required for the project.

The wind turbines are expected to be delivered by the end of this year and the wind farm should start operating in the second quarter of 2017.

Gamesa, which operates around the world, is developing projects in the United States, Mexico, Brazil and the Dominican Republic, among other countries.
