Brazil: SkyWest orders 19 more Jets from Embraer.

Brazilian planemaker Embraer said Wednesday it had reached an agreement to sell an additional 19 E175 jets, one of its main regional aircraft, to U.S.-based SkyWest, Inc.

SkyWest, which is headquartered in St. George, Utah, and is the holding company for SkyWest Airlines and budget carrier ExpressJet, had previously ordered 73 E175s, 18 of them in September.

The first of the 19 additional aircraft are expected to be delivered in the third quarter of 2016, Embraer, the world’s third-biggest planemaker and the global leader in the up-to-130-seat jet category, said in a statement.

All of the additional aircraft, which will be flown by SkyWest Airlines and operate under the Delta Connection brand, will be configured for 76 passengers and be equipped with 12 first-class seats.

For accounting purposes, the additional transaction will be included in Embraer’s 2015 fourth-quarter backlog.

The planes will feature a new wingtip that improves aerodynamic performance, allowing fuel savings of 6.4 percent compared with the first-generation E175s, Embraer said.
